Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has positioned XRP as a cornerstone of the U.S. government’s evolving digital asset strategy, citing growing institutional acceptance and regulatory clarity following the SEC’s dismissal of its longstanding lawsuit. In multiple interviews, Garlinghouse emphasized that XRP could be included in the proposed cryptocurrency stockpile tied to President Donald Trump’s Strategic Bitcoin Reserve initiative. He highlighted Trump’s public acknowledgment of XRP on Truth Social as a sign of political momentum, stating the reserve will incorporate “crypto assets like XRP” along with Bitcoin, possibly through assets seized by law enforcement agencies.
Garlinghouse revealed eleven XRP ETF applications are pending SEC approval, with investor demand rising as regulatory hostility subsides. “I have immense confidence in the ETF,” he said, predicting launches later this year. The CEO also noted Ripple’s improved rapport with U.S. policymakers, contrasting it with the Biden-era SEC’s adversarial stance. “We couldn’t get a meeting with the White House before—now we’re accepted,” he remarked, calling SEC Chair Gary Gensler a “political liability” hindering U.S. crypto innovation.
While affirming Ripple’s interest in an eventual IPO, Garlinghouse clarified it remains a secondary priority. The company recently repurchased $1 billion in shares and retains ample capital, reducing urgency for fundraising. He criticized the SEC’s “hostile” regulatory environment as a barrier but left open the possibility of exploring IPO options abroad. “An IPO is a step in the journey, not an exit,” he stated, emphasizing Ripple’s focus on expanding its global payments network.
Market observers speculate a favorable regulatory climate could accelerate these plans, especially as Trump’s proposed crypto reserve gains traction. XRP’s price rallied following Trump’s announcement, signaling investor optimism about its institutional adoption.
